Three-day Retreat

Three Day Mindfulness Retreat at Church Houses, Farndale, North Yorkshire Moors

Every now and again we all need to stop and pause, take note of the repetitive thoughts that fill our head and pay attention to how our mind and body feels.

Typically, we find ourselves bravely ‘soldiering on’ through life’s ups and downs, getting worn down by worries, responsibilities and the general pace of life. Our Mindfulness and Sound Relaxation Retreats will help to relax and calm your mind and body at a deep, deep level. You will feel nourished and refreshed with a sense of clarity and peace.

What happens at the Retreat?

Fri 12.30pm – 5.00pm

  • Arrive at the delightful Church Houses Village Hall by 12.30 for a vegetarian lunch (all lunches are included in the price)

  • This will be followed by both calming and energising breathwork to explore how we can use our breath as a tool to instantly calm our anxiety and impulsive reactions – some of this will be done to native sound and rhythm – it’s quite a wonderful experience

  • We will explore Mindfulness techniques and principles that can help you in many areas of your life

  • We will engage in guided meditations both seated and lying down

  • There will be a sound bath with ‘Himalayan Singing Bowls’ and Pure Quartz Crystal Bowls accompanied by gentle percussion such as chimes, shakers, and rain sticks aimed at helping you reach a deep meditative state of consciousness.

  • We will finish the day around 5.00pm for you to walk in the beautiful scenery and countryside or simply relax and do nothing

  • You are invited to join us at Feversham Arms in the village for an evening meal or of course you can make your own arrangements (evenings meals are not included in the price)

Sat 10.00 – 5.00pm (including vegetarian lunch and refreshments)

  • Throughout the day we will continue to explore different Mindfulness techniques and principles and there will be several different guided meditations which will connect with topics and discussions from the day

  • There will a ‘Gong Bath’ with Himalayan Singing Bowls. Gong baths have proven to induce a meditative state in quite a profound way because it stimulates brainwave activity through a process known as entrainment

  • In the evening after dinner, if weather permits, you are invited to join us for a Mindful walk around Farndale passing by babbling brooks and lovely scenery. This will be followed by a meditation under the stars in one of the fields close to the venue. We will light candles, enjoy a glass of wine together and meditate to the sound of the beautiful and eerie Native Flute and Frame Drums (amongst other native instruments)

Sat 10.00 – 5.00pm  (including vegetarian lunch and refreshments)

  • We will bring together the breathing exercises, Mindfulness, Meditation and more teachings and discussion to help you reflect on where you are in life and what changes (if any) you may like to consider to help align certain areas of your life

  • There will be Mindfulness poetry and meaningful stories and quotes to help embed some of the learnings from the weekend

  • This will be followed by a meditation in the open air where we will feel, hear, see, taste and smell all that nature provides.

  • You will get a sense of connection and groundedness.

  • Finally, we will finish with a fabulous ‘Sound Jam’ where you can take part in some energising and rhythmic playing of various instruments (and some rather unconventional but effective sound objects) that will help develop even deeper connection and compassion to people in and outside of the retreat including family, friends, colleagues and the wider world.. A session not to be missed.
