Three-day Retreat Mongolian Yurt

Three Day Mindfulness & Sound Relaxation Retreat in stunning Mongolian Yurt

The location

This 3 day Mindfulness & Sound Relaxation Retreat is located in a stunning 25ft Mongolian Yurt at Millview Glamping, a private and secluded glamping & event venue nestled in the heart of the Nottinghamshire countryside. It’s within easy walking distance of the beautiful sandy banks of the river Trent, close to several villages and Bingham market town.

Opposite the ruins of an 18th century windmill and with stunning westerly views over the Trent Valley, this is truly a unique, off grid glamping and well-being experience.

You can roam carefree through undulating hay meadow and woodland. Explore the enchanting cottage garden. Kick back and relax in a hammock. Indulge in a delicious healthy feast in the outdoor kitchen. Enjoy a drink or two on the elevated patio as the sun sets over the valley below. The yurt features a wood burning stove, comfortable lounge, and spacious dining area for up to 24 guests.

About the Retreat?

Centred around a weekend of Mindfulness, Meditations, deep Sound Relaxation, Rhythmic Drumming, Mindful Walks and healthy plant based food it’s a tried and tested experience that keeps people coming back. Even in the cold December evenings, our sound baths sessions at this location are always fully booked months in advance.

You will leave the weekend feeling re-grounded, re-energised and with a sense of calm from new Mindfulness skills that you can apply to everyday living and reduced adrenalin and cortisol levels from deep meditative waves of sound throughout the weekend.

What will happen over the three day retreat?

We will explore Mindfulness principles and practices where you will gain a better understanding of how our brains work and how Mindfulness can help us ‘respond’ rather than ‘react’ to life’s challenges. There will learn skills to calm down your chattering, busy mind in everyday life to help you develop more clarity, purpose and balance.

There will be seating and lying down meditations inside and outside of the yurt that will help to bring a sense of calm, and renewed focus. Whilst this is intended to be a weekend of relaxation we want you to leave with new skills that you can apply at work, home and in all types of situations and events. We also want to you to feel re-balanced, re-energised and with new life perspectives to help you gain greater appreciation for all the wonderful things that life offers.

There will be several deep relaxing Sound Baths with Himalayan Singing Bowls, Pure Quart Crystal Bowls, ancient Chinese Gongs, chimes, rain sticks, ocean drums and so much more.

Not only can sound baths bring about a deeper state of relaxation that can reap many mental and physical benefits, but the entire experience can provide nourishment and stimulation that can release stuck energy and improve quality of sleep and reduce anxiety levels. Some people describe the sound baths as ‘pure bliss’ especially when combined with nature and the open air (as will be the case over the weekend).

What happens at the Retreat?

There may be a few small changes here and there according to the group’s own requests , however, as a guide this is how the weekend is likely to unfold

Day 1

  • Arrive at Millview Glamping site on the Friday at 12.30 and enjoy a scrumptious veggie lunch, wind down, relax and meet the other guests.
  • During this first afternoon we will practice some energising and yet calming breathwork to the rhythmic sounds of native American Indian background sounds
  • At some point we will move outside into the meadow and practice some African Djembe Drumming and light percussion. This is a huge amount of fun and can improve concentration and reduce levels of stress and anxiety (no drumming experience required at all)
  • There will be an hour sound bath where you will experience amazing sound wave relaxing from many of the sound therapy instruments
  • The day will close at around 5pm where you are welcome to join us for an evening meal or you may travel home or take some space eating alone or with your friends at the outside dining area or at a local country pub or restaurant It’s completely up to you and we can discuss all options earlier in the day

Day 2

  • Throughout day 2 there will be further exploration of Mindfulness, new skills to learn and several meditations .
  • There will be more sound baths and drumming sessions and we will enjoy another healthy veggie lunch where you may enjoy some personal time and space to walk or simply relax in the hammocks amongst the trees.
  • One of the highlights of previous retreats has been the Mindful Walks where we focus on the energy and connection from the earth, air, water, sun and nature in its glory. This connectivity can bring about a sense of oneness with nature and help us to reconnect with our true selves, something that is often lost in the midst of a busy life. Re-engaging with our true nature can in itself help to lead us to greater levels of self-confidence, self-compassion, life purpose and meaning. It’s a very powerful and beautiful experience that can be nothing less than ‘life changing’.
  • Following a beautiful Mindful Walk along the meadows and the banks of the River Trent we will return to the Yurt for refreshments. We will be ready for a Gong Bath accompanied by a meaningful story and meditative musical instruments such as the Native American Flute, Drums and deep meditative sounds of the Indian Shruti Box. At similar events this has proven to help release any remaining stuck energy in your body. If can help you to let go of fears, worries, guilt or anger – all feelings that might have developed over many weeks, month or even years.
  • After an early evening break, once more you can choose whether to join us for dinner which will be a BBQ in the grounds of the yurt. Or you may prefer to simply relax in in your glamping tent or go for a walk or meal in one of the villages close by.
  • After dinner there will be a lovely evening meditation outside in the open air. We will engage is some gentle chatter and reflections from the day and enjoy some deep, meditative sound instruments that will send you back to your bed ready for a good night of restorative sleep.

Day 3

  • Once again, a 10am start and opportunity to explore some important topics and activities such as ‘releasing limiting beliefs’ and familiarising yourself with your core values, and setting some boundaries so that you leave the retreat knowing what’s really important to you in life and how your values can help become your life’s compass.
  • Following another tasty and health lunch, the next part of the retreat involves a ‘not to be missed sound jam’ where you are invited to take part in some drumming and playing of percussion instruments together. This will have elements of meditation, concentration and creativity where you can feel free to let your hands and heart do their thing – it’s a hugely energising and connecting session and bring some laughter and release.
  • It will then be time for us to say our goodbyes until another time when we can reconnect and continue where we left off.

  • Who will be running the retreat?

That will be myself, Ann and my husband Pete – we have a magic formula that seems to work well with all the day and weekend retreats we run.

I have been a Life and Executive Coach for over 25 years working within the health and wellness sector and running my own holistic health centre for 20 of those years.  I am an ILM Level 7 Coach and have an MSc in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Compassion from Coventry University.  I hold a diploma in Group Sound Therapy Relaxation from the British Academy of Sound Therapy and I’m a member of the International Therapeutic Sound Therapy ad well as a Master Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner.

I also have 30 years of facilitating group sessions in all business and health care sectors and was previously co-presenter of ITV’s Look Good Feel Great and a regular guest on GMTV, BBC Clothes Show and local and national TV programmes.

Pete recently retired from full time work as European Finance Director of manufacturing company in Loughborough, Leicestershire.

  • Health Warning

Sound baths are not suitable for everyone.

If you are someone that experiences deep depression or deep anxiety or have seizures this retreat may not be the right thing for you.  Also, anyone who is in the first trimester of pregnancy, is fitted with a pace maker or has heart problems should avoid sound baths.  Please let me know if you have any metal implants fitted – this shouldn’t be a problem but I would need to place you a little further away from the instruments due to possible sound vibration sensations in and around the metal plate.

Anyone who attends the retreat without informing me of any of the above, does so at their own risk.

  • Anything else you need to know?

Please just ask, we will be delighted to help in any way we can.

Love and light, Pete and Ann
